As a member of the ensemble which included her brothers and sisters, she has shared the stage with some of the biggest names in gospel including Shirley Caesar, The Soul Stirrers, and The Blind Boys of Alabama. She is married to Bishop Roger L. Tatuem and serves as Assistant Pastor and First Lady of Helping Hands Ministries, Churchville, MD (a suburb of Baltimore). She is an ordained mniister, a worship leader and psalmist. Yet, she has still found time to raise her three children: Nicole, Theoron and Jewel.
Miriam Tatuem is a welcomed talent to the gospel music industry. With her inspiring voice, she is gifted to tap into the heart of God and minister, really minister to those in her presence. Today, Miriam takes center stage with the release of her long-awaited debut, Abba Father. Produced and arranged by GRAMMY, Dove and Stellar Award winner Steven Ford, Abba Father, released on Tatuem’s own Helping Hands Records, is a 12-track praise and worship masterpiece.
Called to bring others into her praise, Tatuem gives the worshipper songs to lift hands to. Praisers will enjoy the lead single, “He Reigns,” an up-tempo track about the sovereignty of God. Written by the singer herself (as are all of the songs on this CD), “He Reigns” is an infectious hand clapper--perfect as a church service opener. Tracks like the ultra-inspirational “Blessing Is Coming To Me;” the soothing, “I Have Jesus, My Lord;” and the reaffirming, “I’ll Wait,” are all a testament to the faithfulness of God.
“Abba Father,” the title song, was written in response to a friend’s illness, Miriam says. “I got a phone call from a childhood friend who told me that she had cancer,” says Miriam. “I flew out to see her, but in a matter of months, she passed away. On the night that she passed, I woke up with the words ‘Abba Father, all we have is praise. You healed my soul’s diseases; Abba Father, all we have is praise.’” The song is breathtakingly beautiful and is a certain highlight on the project.
